The ideal time for a desert trip to Egypt is between early October and early May. In the desert, the temperature differences between day and night are more extreme than in the city.
\nThe average temperatures in the desert and oasis fluctuate between 5-15\u00b0C at night and 22-28\u00b0C during the day. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The local desert dwellers, the Bedouins, don’t need much and live with what’s at hand. Since we want to experience a bit of Bedouin life during this trip, we challenge you to bring only essential items. We advise you to bring a handy (small) foldable weekend bag for the days in the desert. So preferably no hard suitcases, as this is very impractical in the jeeps. There is the possibility to leave part of your luggage, which you don’t need in the desert, at the hotel in the village. <\/p>\n

  • Comfortable clothing (t-shirts and cotton pants or long skirt)<\/li>\n
  • Long-sleeved shirt<\/li>\n
  • Warm sweater and socks for cold nights in the desert<\/li>\n
  • Comfortable closed-toe shoes<\/li>\n
  • Sandals\/slippers<\/li>\n
  • Towel<\/li>\n
  • Toiletries<\/li>\n
  • Mosquito repellent for the oasis (there are no mosquitoes in the desert)<\/li>\n
  • Sunscreen\/sunglasses\/sun hat or cap if needed<\/li>\n
  • Flashlight (for use in the desert)<\/li>\n
  • Camera and possibly extra batteries\/charger<\/li>\n
  • 25 euros for visa costs, to be paid at Cairo airport<\/li>\n
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of return and copies (digital or paper) of passport and travel and cancellation insurance<\/li>\n
  • Phone number\/card of your health insurance<\/li>\n
  • Flight tickets<\/li>\n
  • Debit card and\/or credit card (in Cairo and at the airport there is the possibility to use ATMs\/bank cards, not in the oasis. Before departure, inform your bank about the period you’ll be in Egypt so you can withdraw money there). Exchanging euros is also possible in Cairo. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Wet wipes (in many places in Egypt there is no toilet paper, Egyptians use their left hand and water)<\/li>\n
    • Phone and charger<\/li>\n
    • Swimwear for a \u201cdip\u201d in the hot springs<\/li>\n
    • Sleeping bag, we provide mats and sleeping bags for the desert, but if you prefer to use your own sleeping bag, you can of course bring it<\/li>\n
    • Book\/diary<\/li>\n
    • If needed: medication, contact lenses, glasses, and earplugs<\/li>\n
    • Musical instrument, drawing and\/or writing materials<\/li>\n
    • Keep in mind that there are no large stores in the oasis, basic products are available.
